How the Sentinel Exhaust Brake System Works
Exhaust brakes are used to slow down a truck without using the traditional axle brakes. They work by restricting the exhaust flow, causing exhaust back pressure to build inside the engine cylinders, which then slows down the truck through the power train. Exhaust brakes increase safety and drivability by slowing down the truck over long or short periods of time with out applying the traditional brakes. They also lowers overall vehicle maintenance cost and minimizes damage to the traditional axle braking system.
Our brake takes less than an hour to install and has a unique design to control proper back pressure without using unreliable modules. It also costs typically 20% less than our competitors brakes. Oh, and it sounds great too!
